Richard Hugo House presents a special edition of "Stage Fright," a monthly open mic for teens featuring work created in Hugo Classes for Teens, a new series of workshops launched this fall.
The monthly Stage Fright is MC'ed by youth writer-in-residence Ari Bergman, a senior at Lakeside School, and regularly highlights a different reader each month before opening the mic to the crowd.
This month will celebrate the exciting work from Hugo Classes for Teens in addition to the regular open mic. The free event takes place on Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hugo House Cabaret, 1634 11th Ave in Seattle.
Winter quarter, beginning in January, features Magical Poetry taught by Typing Explosion and Vis-à-Vis Society founder Rachael Kessler; The Short Story taught by "Best New American Voices" writer Peter Mountford; Fearless Solo Performance taught by Seattle Slam champion Karen Finneyfrock; and Reviewing 101: How to Write About Food, Film, Books and Music taught by P-I food critic Leslie Kelly, KEXP DJ and poet Riz Rollins and Stranger editor Paul Constant.
